  1. Collecting all state and county taxes on property
  2. Accounting for and disbursing county funds (including proper apportionment and determination of fund availability)
  3. Investing temporarily idle county funds.

To pay your property taxes in person, you may visit the County Trustee’s office located inside the Perry County Courthouse in Linden, Tennessee, or mail your payment directly to our office:

Perry County Trustee
PO Box 910
Linden, TN 37096

You can reach us by phone at 931-589-2313, Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm. Our office can best advise you on your situation, access your records to confirm what is due and confirm if your payment was received.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions regarding making payments in person, online and general tax bill questions.

Tennessee law does not require the mailing of tax notices indicating the amount of taxes due. Owners of property are presumed to know that taxes are due without personal notice. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the responsibility of payment, nor is this a reason for interest charges to be dismissed if the tax bill becomes delinquent. (CTAS-1573), T.C.A. § 67-5-2101

Tax Statements are mailed in October each year. Property tax bills are mailed to the owner on record.  New owners should contact their title company or review their closing statement to determine who is responsible for paying the taxes.

On the first day of each month beginning March 1, interest of 1.5 percent (18 percent annually) is added to your base tax amount.

Any tax payment transmitted by U.S. mail is deemed received on the date on the postmark, but not all items are postmarked by the United States Postal Service. If the Post Office fails to postmark your payment, it is considered paid on the date received by our office. This applies even if you mail your payment on time. For mail-in payments, office meter dates are not accepted.

Payments made on the Trustee's website are recognized by the county as paid on the date of the online transaction. Payments made utilizing your bank's online bill pay service are posted as of the date received.

The taxes that become payable in October cover the current calendar year.

You may contact the Trustee’s Office at 931-589-2313 or the Perry County Accessors Office at 931-589-2277 to get this resolved.

Tax information should be forwarded to your mortgage company.

We currently accept partial payments in our office only, online payments must be made in full.

Once you have submitted your payment, a printable receipt page of the transaction will be available for immediate printing and retention for your records.  The transaction page will contain all the information about your payment, as well as your payment confirmation number.  Be sure to print this for your records and/or in case you need to show proof of payment.

The date shown on the confirmation page is recognized as the date you made your payment.
