History
Perry County Medical Center, Inc. has been providing comprehensive primary health care to the people of Perry County since November 26, 1979. It began as the vision of a small group of Lion’s Club members who were interested in improving access to healthcare services to people living in Perry County. After several months of planning this group of community leaders partnered with the National Health Service Corp to recruit medical providers.
The group incorporated as a not-for-profit and applied for a Rural Health Initiative Grant from the Federal Government and received funding to establish Perry County Medical Center. The county funded a new 7,200 square foot building which was completed in November of 1979. Through the years Perry County Medical Center has continued to grow and provide quality health services to anyone seeking medical care at our facility regardless of their ability to pay for these services.
Three Rivers Community Health Group was organized in order to facilitate growth and operate as the Governing Board for the federally funded non-profit community health centers. In 2007, federal grants provided an opportunity to establish a satellite clinic in Lyles, Tennessee in Hickman County. Three Rivers Community Health – Hickman began operating in an existing facility located next to the Dickson Apothecary East.
To meet the growing need in Hickman County, the Board of Directors obtained a USDA Loan to increase capacity; building a new addition with four provider wings and the onsite lab was enlarged. In 2011, with a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the original facility was renovated and approximately 2,000 square feet of additional space was added to include basic dental services and a training/conference room.
