LINDEN –
Jackie Duncan will be District Four’s new representative on the Perry County Board of Education, after defeating chairperson and long-time Board member Martha Sharp in Tuesday, November 5’s run-off election. The race ended in a tie—70 to 70—in August, and the Perry County Commission voted unanimously to leave the matter in the hands of voters by calling for last week’s run-off.
In August, Sharp won at the Brush Creek precinct, 32 to 28, and Linden businessman Duncan at the district’s other voting place, Lobelville Public Works, 42 to 38.
This time Duncan carried both precincts: 84 to 76 at Brush Creek, and 220 to 140 at Lobelville Public Works to garner 58% of the total vote and secure the win, 304-216.
Jackie was given the oath of office as the newest member of the Perry County Board of Education, November 20th, 2024, administered by Perry County Mayor John Carroll.
